How does paying for a plan work?

You pay by mobile money, and each payment adds a fixed block of time: 1 month or 12 months. Nothing renews automatically, so you'll never be charged by surprise.

Renewing early? The new time is added onto your current end date, so you lose nothing.
Reminder: you're reminded about a week before your plan ends.
Plan runs out? Your account goes back to Free. Your products, orders and data stay. Only the paid tools lock until you renew.

Should a beginner upgrade straight away?

No. Start on Free, make your first sales, then upgrade when you need a specific tool. Good reasons to move up:
