What Products Am I Not Allowed to Sell on Sellzw?

Quick answer: On Sellzw you can only sell products you own or are authorised to sell. The banned list includes pirated or copied ebooks, courses and software, fake certificates, hacking tools, stolen data, scam or fraud guides, and anything illegal in Zimbabwe. Misleading claims are banned too, such as "guaranteed income", fake reviews and fake testimonials.

Key points

  • The golden rule: if you didn't create it and don't have permission to sell it, don't list it.
  • Honest education is welcome, including on money topics. False promises are not.
  • Breaking the rules can mean removed listings, a suspended account and held funds.
  • Anyone can report a product with the "Report this product" link.

What products are banned on Sellzw?

These ten categories can't be listed, sold, delivered or promoted on Sellzw:

  1. Pirated or unlicensed content: ebooks, courses, software, movies, music or any copyrighted work you don't have rights to.
  2. Other people's content: anything you didn't create or aren't authorised to sell, even if you "bought" it.
  3. Counterfeits and fake credentials: fake certificates, diplomas, transcripts or IDs.
  4. Malware and hacking tools: viruses, account-takeover kits, credential lists.
  5. Stolen data: hacked accounts, leaked databases, other people's personal information.
  6. Fraud and crime guides: scam kits, carding material, instructions for committing crimes.
  7. Illegal items and services: controlled substances, weapons, or anything unlawful in Zimbabwe.
  8. Sexual content involving minors, or any non-consensual or exploitative material.
  9. Hate content: anything promoting hatred, violence or discrimination against protected groups.
  10. Infringing products: anything that breaks trademarks, copyrights, patents or other rights.

Physical products aren't banned, but Sellzw doesn't support them. It's built only for digital products.

What claims are not allowed in product descriptions?

Even a legitimate product can break the rules if you market it dishonestly. These are prohibited:

  • Guaranteed income or returns, such as "Make $1,000 a week guaranteed" or "get rich quick".
  • Fake social proof: made-up testimonials, fake reviews, edited screenshots of earnings, or fake scarcity ("only 2 left!" on a digital file).
  • Unlawful health claims, such as "cures diabetes" or "cures HIV".
  • Impersonation: pretending to be another brand, a famous person, or Sellzw itself.

The honest alternative: describe what the buyer will learn or get, show real results with permission, and let the product speak for itself. Honest descriptions also lead to fewer refund requests.

What are the common grey areas?

Most rule-breaking by beginners is accidental. Here's how to handle the situations that confuse people most.

PLR, resell rights and "master resell rights" products

Allowed only if you're genuinely authorised to resell. Many "resell rights" bundles online don't actually give you the right they claim. Keep a copy of your licence. If you can't show you're authorised, don't list it.

Forex, crypto and "make money online" courses

Allowed as honest education, never with promised profits. Teaching how trading works, risk management or how to set up an online business is fine. Promising "guaranteed 20% monthly returns" is not.

Past exam papers

Sell your own work, not the exam board's. Rather than copies of ZIMSEC or Cambridge question papers, sell your own worked solutions, marking guides, revision notes and explanations. Those belong to you.

Summaries of popular books

Risky. A chapter-by-chapter copy or close paraphrase of someone else's book can infringe their copyright. Your own original lessons, inspired by what you've learned, are safer.

Music, beats and samples

Only sell sounds you made or have licensed for resale. Beats built on uncleared samples, or "type beats" that reuse another artist's actual recordings, can be taken down.

Course certificates

Your own certificate of completion is fine. Sellzw can issue one automatically when students finish your course. What's banned is faking qualifications, such as fake diplomas, fake degrees, or certificates claiming to come from institutions you don't represent.

What happens if I break the rules?

Sellzw can act with or without warning, depending on how serious the violation is:

  • remove or unpublish the listing
  • restrict features on your account
  • suspend or permanently close your account
  • hold or forfeit funds where permitted, for serious or repeat cases
  • investigate and cooperate with law enforcement

For copyright problems, the rights owner can file a takedown complaint. If you believe your product was removed by mistake, you can submit a counter-notice. Accounts that repeatedly list infringing content are suspended or closed.

How do I report a product that breaks the rules?

Tap "Report this product" on the product page. For copyright or intellectual property complaints, follow the Copyright & Takedown Policy or email support@sellzw.com.

A 30-second check before you list a product

Answer yes to all four and you're almost certainly fine:

  1. ✅ Did I create this, or do I have written permission to sell it?
  2. ✅ Is everything inside it (text, images, fonts, music, code) mine or properly licensed?
  3. ✅ Is every claim in my description true and provable?
  4. ✅ Would I be comfortable if the original creator saw my listing?

If any answer is "no" or "not sure", change the product or ask support@sellzw.com before listing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell PLR or resell-rights products on Sellzw?

Only if you are genuinely authorised to resell them. Keep a copy of the licence that gives you resale rights. If you're not sure the licence allows it, don't list the product, or ask Sellzw support at support@sellzw.com first.

Can I sell a Forex or crypto trading course on Sellzw?

Yes, as long as it's your own educational content and you don't promise guaranteed profits or income. Claims like "guaranteed returns" or "get rich quick" are prohibited.

Can I sell past exam papers on Sellzw?

Question papers belong to the exam board, so selling copies of them is risky. Sell your own worked solutions, notes and explanations instead. That work belongs to you.

What happens if I sell a prohibited product?

Sellzw can remove the listing, restrict your features, or suspend or close your account, with or without notice. For serious or repeat violations, funds can be held, and Sellzw may cooperate with law enforcement.

How do I report a product that breaks the rules?
